A decision is nearing in the divorce case of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Raymond Jr., prominent former Akronites now of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Raymond, whose family once played leading roles in industry here, filed for divorce from his wife, Nancy, in January, 1960. The case has been pending in Circuit Court in Fort Lauderdale since. The Raymonds married Dec. 4, 1952. in Tucson, Ariz. They have three sons, Steven, 8. and twins Mark and John, 7. Citing extreme cruelty as grounds for divorce, Raymond claimed they had been separated since Nov. 25, 1959, that his wife lived beyond his means and did not want children. In a counter-claim, Mrs. Raymond alleged he had taken to excessive drinking. She said he was earning $150 a week and also receiving monthly payments from the sale of a boat and septic tank business. Shortly after the filing of the suit, a judge ordered Raymond to pay $60 a week in temporary support. The judge urged reconciliation. Raymond replied he earned only $100 a week and was merely an employe of Pompano Beach Hardware, of which all stock was owned, he said, by his mother. Mrs. Frank M. Raymond of Akron. EARLY this year Circuit Judge Richard Sauls issued an order for Raymond to explain why support money had not been paid, but court records indicated an out-of-court settlement was reached. Mrs. Raymond subsequently filed an amended complaint, claiming her husband was living with another woman (described as a telephone operator) in open adultery. He denied this and answered that his wife had once tried to beat the other woman. A final hearing in the divorce action had been set for Dec. 11, but was delayed when Mrs. Raymond filed a motion for dismissal. The court now is awaiting briefs from the attorneys on this motion. Raymond is the son of Mr. and mrs. Frank M. Raymond, 3376 Bath rd. His grandfather, the late Harry Raymond, was vice president of Goodrich at the time of his retirement in 1925. Mrs. Frank M. Raymond is a daughter of the late Byron Robinson, who was president of Robinson Clay Product Co. Mrs. Frank Raymond Jr. is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mills of Sioux Falls, S.D.
