Mrs. Howes was a school teacher at Cecil Manor Elementary School, Elkton, in 1955 and Holly Hall Elementary School, Elkton, for 10 years. She also drove and staffed the Cultural Experience Bus a school bus designed to be a classroom working nine years with underprivileged children in that program. She retired in 1980. She was a 1948 graduate of Canaan (Vt.) High School, a 1951 graduate of Johnson (Vt.) State Teachers College. She earned her master's degree in education from University of Delaware in 1957. She was a member of Elkton United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Charles F.; two daughters, Sherry Anne Lewis of Elkton and Sylvia Mae Beavis of Wright, Wyo.; and three grandchildren. A service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Gee Funeral Home, 259 E. Main St., Elkton, where friends may call after 10. Burial will be private. Charles Franklin Howes, age 81, of Elkton, MD, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2011. He was born on November 12, 1929 in Hartford, CT to the late Walter Vincent Howes and Edna Mae (Hathaway) Howes.
Charles served in the U.S. Navy for eight years. He served during the Korean War and was stationed in Bainbridge, MD at the time of his discharged. After the military, Charles became a Maryland State Police Officer in which he retired in 1977as a Corporal. He later served as a bailiff for the Cecil County District Court until 1993. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and playing cards.
He is survived by his daughters, Sherry A. Lewis and her husband, Donald of Elkton, MD and Sylvia M. Beavis and her husband, Randy of Wright, NY; three grandchildren, Charles Franklin Beavis, Pamela Lynn Beavis and Rachael Ann Battaglia; and two great-grandchildren, Chase Battaglia and Cody Beavis.
Along with his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wives, Bessie S. Howes and Florence S. Howes.
Burial will take place at Cherry Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Services will private.

He is now stationed in Belgium after several months duty in England and France. He is a crew chief in a ninth air force crew squadron. His group has been awarded a unit citation Richard Beecher for outstanding air operations against the enemy, so that gives him one more rib-ton to wear. He has the good conduct medal, American theatre of war ribbon for service in Panama, the American defense ribbon for a year's service before Pearl Harbor, the European theatre of war ribbon for services with two stars for major engagements, and the unit citation. Barre Man Takes Bride At Detroit Mich
Candlelight illuminated the Ecorse Presbyterian church in Detroit Mich for the marriage October 1 of Rae Marie Trigge daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Trigge of Detroit to Richard Beecher son of Mrs. Orem Wark of Barre. The double ring ceremony was solemnized by the Rev. Leonard Duckett. Attending the bride as matron-of-honor was Mrs. Betty Jane Wilson of Detroit and bridesmaids were Mrs. Leonard Myrand of Lincoln Park and Mrs. Patricia Feil of Detroit. Carol Magers of Lincoln Park was flower girl. Charles Kessler was best man and ushers were Robert Miller jr. and James Bouton all of Lincoln Park. For her marriage the bride wore a gown of nylon velvaray fashioned with an eyelet trimmed ruffle outlining the fashionable round neckline. Her fingertip veil was caught by a tiara of orange blossoms and she carried a white velvet muff with a single orchid surrounded by white roses and streamers. Her attendants wore blue net gowns, the matron-of-honor wearing a blue heart-shaped hat and the bridesmaids wearing similar yellow headpieces. They all carried identical heart-shaped bouquets of yellow chrysanthemums. The flower girl's yellow ensemble was accented by a blue velvet butterfly bow in her hair and blue sash. She carried a heart-shaped bouquet of blue chrysanthemums. Soloist Patricia McKeever of Allen Park sang “Always” and “Oh Promise Me” during the ceremony. Following the nuptials a reception for three hundred guests was held in the Lincoln Park American Legion Memorial home. After cutting a five-tiered wedding cake the couple left on a two weeks’ honeymoon to New Orleans. On their return they will make their home at the Taft hotel in Detroit. Mr. Beecher retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1963 after 21 years, including service during World War II and the Korean War. Later, he was a teacher for Broward County Public Schools. Born in Canaan, Vt., he moved to Deltona in 1982 from Fort Lauderdale.

WILLISTON -- In an eight o'clock candlelight service Friday, Aug. 31 In the Williston Federated Church, Miss Barbara Francis Haynes, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil V. Haynes of Williston was married to Richard Eugene Campbell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer C. Campbell of Waterbury. The Rev. Daniel E. Partridge officiated at the double ring ceremoriy. Music was provided by Mrs. Howard Carpenter, organist. George Merritt of New Haven sang two tenor solos "Because and "The Lords Prayer. The bride was given in marriage by her father and had as her matron of honor her sister-in-law, Mrs. Barry V. Haynes. Bride & Her bridesmaids were Miss Beverly Atkins of Minneapolis, Minn, her aunt; Miss Janice Gilpin of Northfleld, Miss. Lois Sibbold, and Miss Rita Cote of Burlington. Little Miss Karla Wolcott of Wilton. Conn., cousin of the bride, was the flower girl. The bridegroom had as his best man, the brides twin brother, Barry V. Haynes of Burlington, Usners, all classmates of the bridegroom at Norwich University and all of Waterbury, were Edward Steele Ferdinand Colima, Harry OBrien and Charles Morrill. Jon Haynes, youngest brother of the bride, was junior usher.
For her wedding the bride wore a chapel length gown of white nylon illusion with rose-point lace panels over a full flounce of net and taffeta, with fitted lace and illusion bodice, long pointed sleeves, and choker neckline. Her shoulder length veil of nylon illusion was fitted to a Juliet cap of starched rosepomt lace. She carried a cascade bouquet of white gladioli centered with an orchid corsage. The matron of honor wore a gown of blush rose taffeta and lace and a coronet headpiece of matcnmg net and miniature flowers. She carried a colonial bouquet of white gladioli edged in rose, with lacelon loops and streamers. The bridesmaids were dressed alike in cooktail length gowns of ice blue dotted nylon over taffeta. They wore matching coronet headpieces of net and miniature flowers. They carried colonial bouquets of pale pink gladioli with ice blue lacelon loops and streamers. The flower girls dress was full skirted eyelet embroidered starched organdy over ice of le taffeta with Peter Pan neckline and short puffed sleeves. . She earned a tiny colonial bouquet of miniature white gladioli with blue ribbons and wore a flower halo of gladioli buds and blue nylon net. Movers Dresses For her, daughter's wedding Mrs, Haynes chose American Beauty chiffon over taffeta with a matching bandeeau type hat of small pressed, fiat feathers. She wore a corsage of glad-oli of the same shade as her gowm. The bridegroom mother, Mrs Campbell, wore a two piece suit of aqua faille with white accessories and a corsage of white roses. Immediately following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the brides parents in Williston. The bride attended schools in Burlington and Williston and was graduated from Burlington High School in 1953. She was a senior in the College of Nursing Education at the University of Vermont. Senior at N. U. Mr. Campbell is a graduate of Waterbury High School and a senior at Norwich University. He is a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, a cadet captain in the ROTC and sergeant in the U. S Army Reserves. Following a brief wedding trip the couple will resume their studies at their respective universities and will reside at 90 South Mam St., Waterbury. For traveling the bride wore a sheath dress of midnight blue faille with a full length matching duster, white accessories and an orchid eoisage. Richard Campbell (Dick), age 84, of Young Harris, GA, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 20, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family following an extended illness. Dick Campbell was born on February 18, 1935 in Waterbury, VT. He was the son of the late Homer Campbell and the late Marion Beecher Campbell. He married Jeannette Marie Campbell in 1991, in Port St. Lucie, FL. He graduated from Waterbury High School and then attended Norwich University in Vermont. Dick served in the National Guard while in high school as well as the U.S. Army from 1957-1978. While in Vietnam, he flew helicopters and fixed wing aircraft, later retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. After retirement he worked in real estate, owned a limousine service, and worked a travel agency. He was also a proud member of the Lion’s Club and enjoyed working at the community center in Port St. Lucie, FL. Me. Campbell also attended Sharp Memorial United Church in Young Harris, GA. He is preceded in death by both his parents and his brother, Robert Harold Campbell.
Surviving Dick is his loving wife and best friend of 28 years, Jeannie Campbell, of Young Harris, GA. Also his three sons, Richard (Chris) Campbell of Burke, VA, Thomas Barton Campbell of Vermont, Michael Denny Campbell of Whitefield, NH, and step daughter Christine Thompson of Fenwick Island, DE. Also seven grandchildren, Bryan, Jessica, Jason, Breanna, Tucker, Jenny, and Katie, as well as four great grandchildren, Paige, Mia, Avery, and Ava.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 11, 2020 at 1:00pm from the Sharp Memorial Methodist Church in Young Harris with Pastor Stephen Soulen & Rev. David Tinsley officiating. The family will meet with friends on Monday, January 6, 2020 from 6:00pm-8:00pm from the Mountain View Funeral Home. Final interment will also be held at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA which will be announced at a later date.

CAMPBELL: Barbara H., 67, formerly of Lancaster Mobile Home Village, died Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at the Morrison Nursing Home, Whitefield, N.H., after a long illness.
She was born in Burlington, Vt., May 4, 1934, the daughter of Virgil and Madeline (Atkins) Haynes, and lived for many years in Lancaster. Ms. Campbell was a registered nurse and worked for three years at AVH in Berlin, N.H., and 18 years at Weeks memorial Hospital in Lancaster before retiring.
She was a 1953 graduate of Burlington High School and received her nursing degree from the University of Vermont in 1957.
Survivors include three sons, Richard Christopher Campbell of Burke, Va., Thomas B. Campbell of Whitefield, N.H., and Michael D. Campbell of Lancaster, N.H.; seven grandchildren; one brother, John B. Haynes of St. Albans, Vt.; and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, and a twin brother, Barry V. Haynes in 1986.
Calling hours are to be held today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster.

Steven proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked for the past 11 years as an environmental technician at the Elliot Hospital. In his free time, Steven was an avid fisherman. Fishing was his passion, and he loved fishing for trout in rivers and streams. He was a cherished husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved spending time with family and teaching his grandchildren how to fish.

2. Elaine R. Sweeney, 72, of Manchester, NH, passed away at the Elliot Hospital on October 15, 2021. Born in Manchester on July 11, 1949, she was a daughter of the late Gerard and Irene (Marier) Drouin. Elaine shared 25 years of marriage with her late husband, Steven H. Sweeney.
Elaine was raised in Hooksett and was a graduate of Central High School. She proudly served in the United States Navy from 1970 – 1971. She worked as a proofreader for Lighthouse Printing for many years. Elaine enjoyed gardening and playing computer games. Above all else, Elaine was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who loved nothing more than spending time with her family.
Elaine is survived by her children, Claire Washburn, Angela Martineau and her husband Andrew, Candice Poisson and her husband Roger Jr., Shaun Washburn and Kimberly Naum and her husband David; her brother, Donald Drouin and his wife Priscilla; her eight grandchildren: Kendra Washburn, Kristyn Griffin, Kayla Kitchen, DJ Cormier, Courtney Martineau, Roger Poisson III, and James and Tylar Naum; as well as ten great-grandchildren.

Jean D. “Candy” Batross, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2014 under the loving care of Kobacker House. Candy was born in Sanford, Connecticut to the late Sigurd and Carrie Hart Walsoe. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, she will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years Martin Batross; daughter Laura (Dick) Cook; sons Michael (Kris) Batross and Matthew Batross; grandsons Brian (Nicki) Sweeney, Jacob and Kyle Batross; great-grandchildren Skylar, Logan and Cali; her sister Betty Lewicki and family. A graduate of the State University of New York at Potsdam with a BA in Education, she went on to teach in the elementary school setting for 29 years. Candy and Martin are known to many as Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Since 1972, they have given the gift of the Christmas spirit to many children, and adults, alike. As avid Ohio State Buckeye fans, they have been putting together a mean tailgate for 42 years. Her passion for music led her to the Westerville Community Concert Band, where she held a seat on the board, and was in the percussion section. She was also a member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 1427.Candy was the first female radio announcer for WPAR in Parkersburg, West Virginia, and was President of the Women’s Club.
Candy had an avid love for all animals. She enjoyed the deer, squirrels and birds that came into her yard, and the company of her cats. Showing and raising Great Danes was a very important part of her life. An exceptional woman with many passions and talents, Candy will be remembered for the unconditional love she showed to her family, friends and all she came to meet and know.
Services will be privately held, and are entrusted to Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, 6699 N. High Street, Worthington, Ohio 43085. A Celebration of her Life is being planned for May of 2015. Friends may, if they wish, honor her memory by making a memorial contribution to the Westerville Community Concert Band, PO Box 146, Westerville, Ohio 43081.

FAIRLEE -- Reginald Cramer, 84, died yesterday at his home in Fairlee. He was born on April 14, 1902, in Way's Mills, Canada, the son of Edwin Rush and Ina (Wheeler) Cramer. He attended schools in Newport, Vt. In 1923, he married Edna Welch. mr. cramer worked for the Boston & Maine Railroad, before opening a tire repair shop in Newport. He later was employed by the Tide Water Oil Company and was transferred to Fairlee in 1937. He began his own fuel oil business in 1945 and conducted this business until 1966, when the oil business was sold. Mr. and Mrs. Cramer moved to Florida in 1976 and lived there until shortly before his death. He was a member of Charity Lodge No. 43, F&AMM, Mount Lebanon Chapter No. 13, RAM, Palestine Commandery no. 3, K.T., Mount Sinai Temple No. 3, AAONMS, and Iona Chapter No. 31, Order of the Eastern Star. Also a member of the Community Church of Christ of Fairlee. He leaves his wife of Fairlee; a son, Reginald Jr. of Fairlee; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Community Church of Christ in Fairlee. Burial will be in the spring in the Fairlee Cemtery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fairlee Scholarship Fund, in care of Fairlee Town Office, Fairlee, vt., 05045. The William Godfrey Funeral Home of Ely is in charge of the arrangements.

FAIRLEE--Edna Alice Cramer, 91, of Fairlee, died April 15, 1993 at her home. She was born Sept. 14, 1901 in Holland, VT, the daughter of Ervin and Carrie (Moulton) Welch. She was a 1919 graduate of Derby Academy in Derby, VT. On Dec. 24, 1923, she married Reginald H. Cramer Sr. of Newport, VT. They made their home in Newport until moving to Fairlee in 1937. In 1945, together with her husband, Mrs. Cramer operated Fairlee Oil Service, Inc., a fuel oil distribution company. In the early 1950's they developed Middle Point Recreation Area on Lake Mercy, a business they operated for about 10 years. In 1966, they sold the fuel oil business to Eaton Oil Company and continued to operate R.H. Cramer's New and Used Furniture Shop in Fairlee. In the early 1970's they retired to Florida where they spent the winters, while enjoying summers in Fairlee. Mr. Cramer predeceased her in January of 1987. Mrs. Cramer was active in the Community Church of Christ, Community Circle, IONA Chapter #31, O.E.S. of Bradford, and Rondo. She was a founder and active participant for more than 35 years in the Annual Church Lobster Supper. She is survived by one son, Reginald H. Cramer Jr, of Fairlee; four grandchildren, Rebecca Wing of Mannsville, NY, Reginald H. Cramer III, Timothy H. Cramer and Donna Shay, all of Fairlee; 10 great grandchildren; one sister, Jessie Welch of Island Pond; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were held April 17 in the Community Church of Christ in Fairlee. The Rev. Nell Johnston officiated. Private burial was in the Fairlee Village Cemetery. Donations in Mrs. Cramer's memory may be made to the Church Scholarship Fund at the Community Church of Christ, in care of Richard Hedge, Community Church Treasurer, Box 304, Fairlee, VT 05045. June 27— Miss Evelyn Gertrude Currier daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Currier and Roland Clifford Wheeler son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Wheeler were united in marriage at St Mary’s Catholic church Monday morning, Rev. Norbert Lachance officiating. Many relatives and friends were present. The bride's gown was white satin with Spanish lace made with train a veil of tulle worn cap fashion and held in place with clusters of orange blossoms. She carried white feillar-ney roses and gypsophila. Her only ornament was a necklace of pearls. Miss Arlene Currier sister of the bride attended her. She wore pale pink organdie circular corded flounce and blue girdle. She carried bronze snapdragons. Reginald Cramer was best man. The bridal party entered the church to the strains of the “Bridal Chorus" from Lohengrin played by George Rivard organ and Mrs. Lloyd Perkins violin. They also played Mendelssohn's “Wedding March’ at the close of the service and Miss Faye Turcotte sang. The bride was given in marriage by her father Elmer Currier. After the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride's parents and later Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler left on a week’s trip to Chicago. They are to reside in Barre where the groom is manager of a gas station. Woodsville, N.H. - Roland Clifford Wheeler, 67, of 112 N. State St., Concord, N.H., died at his home Sunday after a long illness. Mr. Wheeler was born in Newport, March 5, 1909, son of the late Norman and Flossie Wheeler and was a long-time resident of Concord, N.H. Mr. Wheeler was a member of Ariel Masonic Lodge 24, Merrow, Conn. He belonged to the Scottish Rite Bodies of Concord, N.H., the New Hampshire Consistory, 32nd degree of Nashua, N.H., and Bektash Shrine Temple of Concord, N.H. He was a retired employe of Pratt and Whitney Aircraft Corp of Hartford, Conn., and had worked as a principal on the first capsule used In the U.S. manned space program. He leaves his widow, the former Maida E. Perry, daughter of the late Dr. Ralph G. Perry of Wells River; three daughters, Mrs. Roberta Terrill, Houston, Tex.; Mrs. Louise Merrill, Burlington and Mrs. Margaret Marriam, Wilder; two sons, R. Bruce Wheeler, Burlington and John Hooker, Chestnut Hill, Boston; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. WELLS RIVER - Mrs. Maidae Perry Wheeler of 112 N. State St., Concord, N.H., died Jan. 26 in Concord Hospital. Her husband, the late Roland Clifford Wheeler, died about two years ago. Born in Jarvisville, W. Va., about 1900, she was the oldest child of Dr. Ralph Gibson Perry Sr. of Ryegate and Minnie Asenath Hollister of Plainfield. She lived in Jarvisville until 1911 when the family returned to Wells River where her father was a physician and surgeon until his 1948 retirement. She attended schools in Wells River, graduated from the Detroit School and taught several terms in the Newbury district schools. She was first married to John Parker Hooker III of Colebrook, N.H., and resided in Wells River where he was owner of the Hooker Furniture Co. in the 1920s. Three children were born of the marriage: Dr. John H. Perry-Hooker of South Newbury and Chestnut Hill, Mass., presiding bishop of the Anglican Church of America; Mrs. Edward (Maidae Louise) Merrill of Burlington and Mrs. Richard (Margaret RoseLee) Merriam of Wilder. Both daughters are nurses. She later was married to Roland C. Wheeler of Newport. They resided in Coventry, Conn., for several years, then moved to Concord, N.H., for their retirement home. Three children were born of this marriage: Norman Ralph, who died in childhood; Roland Bruce of Burlington and Mrs. Dudley (Roberta Lee) Terrill of Centre Barnstead, N.H. Mrs. Wheeler was of early New England background. Her father's family arrived in Iloxbury in 1633. The Hollister immigrant, John, was an original settler of Glastonbury, Conn., about 1635. Her fathers family also traces through the Earls of Ross to James I of Scotland. She was a member of various patriotic organizations and was a lifelong member of Corinthian OES Chapter here. Musically inclined, she played piano and sang in Felix Ferdlnandos orchestra out of Manchester, N.H., and also played the steam calliope for the King Read Shows. After retirement, she attended Margarets School of Beauty Culture and did volunteer work in hospitals and nursing homes. Mrs. Wheeler is survived by five children, 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, as well as a brother, Ralph Gibson Perry Jr., Newport and several cousins, including Mrs. Margaret Perry Burns, Clearwater, Fla.; Mrs. Ethel Duke Barrows and Horace Duke, both East Calais; Mrs. Ruth Walker, Cabot; Mrs. Forrestine McCormick, St. Johnsbury, the Duncan family, Front Royal, Va., and many nieces and nephews. Her funeral service was conducted Jan. 29 in the Wells River Congregational Church. Later burial will be in the Wells River Cemetery. Charles J. Randall, aged 69 years, a well known resident of Hardwick for the past quarter of a century, and who had been in somewhat impaired health the past winter but sick only about four weeks, died at his home on Spring street, June 20. A son of Frank Randall and Eva Gibson Randall, he was born in Barnet, Vt., August 6, 1878. He lived in that towrn, where he received his education, for a number of years, and when a young man learned the carpenters trade which he followed for the rest of his life. Some of the time he was self-employed, other times he worked for various construction firms, and for many years of his residence in this town was employed by the Sam Daniels Manufacturing Company, Inc. He was a good workman, a devoted husband and father, a kind neighbor and friend and enjoyed a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. He married October 15, 1904, Bertha Rollins. After their marriage they resided in Greenfield, Mass., for four years, then moved to St. Johnsbury, and for several years lived in Danville, coming to Hardwick between 20 and 25 years ago. The deceased is survived by his widow, one son, Walter of Pittsfield, Mass., two daughters, Mrs. Flora Clark of Granville, N. Y., and Mrs. Elva Rockwell of Amherst, Mass., one brother, Ernest M. Randall, and one sister, Mrs. Nellie Kingsbury, both of,Barnet; also by four grand-children and one great-grand-child, several nieces, to all of whom deepest and most sincere sympathy is extended. Funeral services were held at the Holcomb Funeral Home, well attended by relatives, neighbors and friends, testifying to the esteem in which the deceased was held in the community. Rev. R. GROTON — Ernest M. Randall 83, died at the Barre City Hospital Friday after a long illness. He was a native of Danville and was educated in the Bamet public schools and a graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy. He was a past noble grand and 50-year member of the Barnet IOOF. For 30 years he served as chairman of both the school board and the board of selectmen in the Town of Barnet and served two terms in the Vermont State Legislature. He was a member and honorary deacon of the Passumpsic Community Baptist Church. He is survived by his widow, Mable Orr Randall of Groton, a son John E. Randall of Pittsfield, Mass., one granddaughter and two great - grandchildren and a sister Mrs. Nellie Kingsbury of Charlotte. Funeral services will be held at the Ricker Funeral Home in Groton at 3:30 on Sunday with the Rev. Cathleen R. Narowitz pastor of the Passumpsic Community Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be at a later date at the Groton Village Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 this evening at the Ricker Funeral Home in Groton. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Mr. Randall’s memory to the Passumpsic Community Baptist Church in care of Elmer Frost of Groton. (The Times Argus, April 1, 1967, p. 16)

- Chester Orr of Groton, an old soldier who has been failing for some time, died on monday of last week. Mr. Orr in the late war was in Libby prison for a long time. His family gave him up for dead and settled his estate.

GROTON — Mabel C. Randall 85, widow of the late Ernest Randall of Groton died this morning at the Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, N. H. Mrs. Randall was also a resident of East Barnet. She was born in Groton Sept 14, 1884. Mrs. Randall is survived by her son, John of Pittsfield, Mass., one grandchild and two greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Ricker Funeral Home in Groton Monday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Marceau pastor of the Methodist Church officiating. Mrs. Nellie Kingsbury, 97, of Greenbush Rood died at me Medical Center Hospital of Vermont early Friday morning, Aug. 9, 1 985, after a long illness. She was born in Danville on Nov. 15, 1887, the daughter of Frank E. and Elva (Gibson) Randall. Mrs. Kingsbury was a retired employee of the New England Power Co. She was a member of Pomona Grange, lakeview Grange and the Charlotte Congregational Church. Mrs. Kingsbury was predeceased by her first husband, Carl E. King, and her second husband, Newell J. Kingsbury. Mrs. Kingsbury is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Marion E. Ashton of Beverly, Mass., and Jennie M. Fennell of Charlotte; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in St. Johnsbury with the Rev. Robert Gormbley of the Charlotte Congregational Church officiating. There are no visiting hours. The family requests all to please omit flowers. 2. Obit: Funeral of C. E. King Held Monday Afternoon
The. Rev.. Ralph Stoody of Grace Methodist Church officiated Monday afternoon at the funeral of Carl B. King, held at 2 o'clock at the regidence 22 Spring street. Employes of the Boston and Maine acted as bearers and entombment was at Mt. Pleasant cemetery. Mr. King died Friday in Brattleboro. He had been an invalid the past 14 years, due to an injury in the B. & M. railroad yards where he was employed. Mr. King was born in St. Johnsbury July 6, 1887, the son of George C. and Jane Saulters King. He was educated here and was a young man of much primise until stricken in early manhood with an incurable trouble; the result of injury. Nov 7, 1906 in Passumpsic Mr. King married Miss Nellie Randall and she survives him with two daughters, Misses Marion and Jennie King, the latter the little singer who has charmed many St. Johnsbury audiences. Mr. King leaves also his father, George C King of this place, a brother and a sister, Benjamin King of Binghamton, Mass., and Mrs. Delia Rives of Barton. They were here to attend the funeral. Two cousins, Mrs. S. M. Adams and Mrs. Atistin Williams of Danville and a nephew and niece, Percy Rives of Danville and Miss Virginia Rives of Sherbrooke, P. Q., also were here. Private funeral services were held at the home yesterday for Newell John Kingsbury who passed away Friday Rev. H. W. May of Derby a friend officiated and was assisted by the Rev. Thomas R. Burns pastor of Grace church. Newell J. Kingsbury was born January 12 1862 in Stannard the son of Harvey N. and Polly (Lowe) Kingsbury. Early in his life his family moved to Danville and he received his education at Danville Academy. He was united in marriage March 11 1884 with Jennie L. Robertson of Trout Brook P Q and they made their home on a farm in Walden until 1918 when they moved to St. Johnsbury. One daughter Mrs. Inez K. Newton was born to this union. His wife died September 21 1923 and August 24 1925 he was united in marriage with Nellie Randall King who survives him. For several years Mr. Kingsbury was employed in the Fairbanks Scale shop and on terminating his work there was employed at the Mt Pleasant Cemetery where he has been working for the past twelve years. He was affiliated with the Grace Methodist Church and was also a member of Appollo lodge K P holding the office of vice chancellor of that organization. Other than his widow Mr. Kingsbury is survived by a daughter Mrs. Inez K. Newton of Westport Point Mass., two grand children, Vivian (Newton) Korswig and Newell E. Newton, a great granddaughter Sara Jane Korswig, a niece Stella (Wilson) Gilfillan who lived in the family from babyhood, two step-daughters the Misses Jane and Marion King, two brothers, Otis D. of Tilton, N H., and Fred U. of Kinderhook N Y., a sister Jessie Gibson of Ryegate and several nieces and nephews. Interment was in the family lot at Mt Pleasant cemetery and the bearers were Henry Gilfillan, George M. Kingsbury, Lyle Kingsbury and Newell K. Newton. Those from out of town attending the services were G. M. Kingsbury of Tilton N H., Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Gibson of Ryegate Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lamb of Littleton N H., Mr. and Mrs. L. J.
