3. Obit: Bard Clark Teigen
With great sadness, we announce the passing of Bard Clark Teigen, 80, who died July 7, 2020, at his residence on the family ranch in Teigen, Montana.
Bard was 80 when he died of complications from mesothelioma-related lung cancer, after a valiant effort with chemotherapy treatment over the past year. To the very end, Bard showed his characteristic determination we all knew, honed over his lifetime as a proud, stubborn, Norwegian engineer.
He was born Nov. 4, 1939, to Bard M and Ann Mason (Clark) Teigen and raised on the family cattle and sheep ranch, the Teigen Land and Livestock Company in Teigen, Montana. Experiencing so much growing up, few beyond Big Sky Country could imagine, between cattle and sheep, grazing and hay-making, old machinery and older sheepherders, Bard carried with him countless insights, stories, and even a few jokes, to the benefit and enjoyment of so many who were lucky to cross his paths.
Graduating near the top of the “top 10” of his high school class of 10 students in nearby Grass Range prepared him well to study mechanical engineering at Montana State College in Bozeman. He then went to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for a Masters Degree in mechanical engineering, and eventually an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Bard’s first engineering job took him to Connecticut to work for Combustion Engineering in Windsor Locks, where he also met his future, beloved wife, Patricia. After marrying in 1968, they lived and raised a family, daughter Lisa and son Dan, in Enfield, Connecticut until she passed 49 years later in 2017.
Over the course of his half-century career in power generation, Bard became a leading expert in heat transfer, working on coal, gas, nuclear and even solar energy projects throughout the country and around the world. While his company changed names over the decades, from Combustion Engineering to ABB to Alstom to GE, he held firm to the professional ground he loved. His first attempt at retirement lasted a week, before he returned as a consultant, at the same facility, same office, projects and people, for a few more years.
Along with family life, Bard volunteered as an assistant scout leader while his son went through all the ranks of scouting. He had been especially active in the Masons for well over 50 years with Apollo 59 and Composite 28 Masonic Lodge in Suffield, Connecticut. He was Worshipful Master several times over the years and also served as Associate Grand Marshall.
At the time of his death Bard was president of the Teigen Land and Livestock Company. Having kept involved with the ranch his whole life, even while living in Connecticut, he especially enjoyed being able spend more time on the ranch over his last few years, watching the grass and cattle grow, and catching up with old friends and neighbors.
Bard was preceded in death by his father, Bard M. Teigen, mother, Ann Mason Clark Teigen, and his wife, Patricia Morrison Teigen.
Bard is survived by his longtime friend and close companion, Kathleen Shepard, his daughter Lisa M. Teigen and granddaughter Ashley Ann Worrell of Enfield, Connecticut, son Bard Daniel and Susan Teigen and grandsons Samuel Bard and Quincy Nathan of Housatonic, Massachusetts. Bard also leaves behind his sister, Ellen Wickhorst of Billings, nephew Shawn (Julie) Wickhorst of Billings, nephew Dave (Christy) Wickhorst of Teigen, sister Patsy (Pete) McNamee of Helena, niece Lynnelle (Owen) Pittet of Boston, nephew Bard (Courtney) McNamee of Nashville, and many beloved nieces and nephews, inlaws and outlaws.
The family plans to have a memorial gathering this fall in Montana at the family ranch, as well as a gathering in Connecticut later in the year. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a charity they feel would make Bard smile. Creel Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

2. KINGSTON, Ont. — Tallman Truck Centre is celebrating 40 years in business this Saturday.
Employees are being treated to a party at the Rogers K-ROCK Centre in Kingston. To ensure all can attend, all the dealership’s locations will be closed Saturday, but the Mississauga location will re-open Sunday Sept. 15 at noon.
Tallman Truck Centre was founded in Kemptville, Ont. in 1973 by chairman and CEO Gerald Tallman. It’s now run by his son Kevin Tallman, who serves as president. The company has expanded to include eight full-service dealerships across Ontario, with the most recent additions being in Oshawa and Mississauga.
“Thank you to Tallman Truck Centre’s employees, customers, and suppliers for being an important part of our success,” the company said in an announcement.

3. KEMPTVILLE, Ont. -- Gerald Tallman, dealer principal at Kemptville Truck Centre in Kemptville, Ont, has been given the Lifetime Achievement Award honor by International Truck and Engine Corp. Tallman received his Lifetime Achievement Award at the company's 26th Annual Circle of Excellence black-tie awards ceremony, held at the Four Seasons Resort Wailea, Maui Hawaii. The prestigious award is presented to those dealers whose "consistent record of achievement and humanity throughout the course of their career has clearly provided a role model of excellence while enriching the value of the International brand among their customers and communities," the company states. "Gerald Tallman's quiet, unassuming personal demeanor masks his very aggressive business character when it comes to attacking his marketplace," said John Whitnell, vice-president of Dealer Operations, in a press release. "He is a dominant force in his area of responsibility and his dealership has a record of consistent excellence." In 2004, Kemptville Truck Centre earned the highest rating in North America from International's Diamond Standards program. Gerald is also a strong leader in his community. Over the years, Tallman has actively supported the Canadian Cancer Society, the Ottawa Heart Institute and numerous other community service organizations throughout eastern Ontario. After the untimely death of his father, Tallman began working as a young teen to help support his family. Gerald got his first taste of the automotive business when he got a job in the parts department of a local car dealership. He rose through the ranks of the automotive business through hard work and with a commitment to helping others. In 1970, Gerald opened his own garage and used car lot called Tallman Motors. In 1973, he became an owner of Kemptville Truck Centre and shortly thereafter became the sole proprietor. Today, the Kemptville Truck Centre is a full-service dealership serving major markets from six locations in Kemptville, Cornwall, Brockville, Kingston, Ottawa and Belleville, Ontario, Canada. It is one of the largest International dealerships in Canada, offering International brand products, including the full line of International trucks, and all-makes parts, as well as a full-service repair, paint and body shop. "It is very exciting to be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Over the years, International has given me and my family numerous opportunities to grow our business," Tallman said in accepting the award. "Right from the start, this has been a business that involved my whole family and that makes winning this award even more special. I attribute our success to our outstanding group of employees, now numbering 262, who provide excellent service to our loyal customers on a daily basis." Also at the same ceremony, Tom Thayer of International Truck Sales of Richmond, in Richmond, Va., was named the truckmaker's 2005 Dealer of the Year.

You will be able to meet her on Saturday April 17 between 17:00 and 19:00 right before the show at the Bïa Art Center of Richmond. On this occasion, everyone is invited and a reception will be be served. For Mrs. G. Mongeau, painting is a love story which must cause the spectator as much as the artist, her real emotions. She says to us: “The love and the passion that each painting brings is an adventure. My sources of inspirations appear by chance, with complete freedom, or the photograph is a landmark. For me, to paint flowers is a pretext to create, compose and to play with the color on a fabric, I remove some and I give from there with a freedom of gesture. The fabric is a dialogue of colours, with key colors in juxtaposition or superposition. Here the bud of a flower which did not open, little by little opens up while groping from one to another. I give attention to the harmony, balance, with relations between the colors, in addition to what the canvas dictates to me. My understanding of the light is to make it circulate the table. That doubts and questions of time, meeting after meeting, in order to find the key emotion by an intuitive process in search of finding satisfaction. For her, the canvas becomes a mirror, an interior image, a pleasure, a happiness. The invitation is extended. Visit the exhibition of Gaucher Alyette Mongeau, floral painter with the gallery Current Art of Richmond from April 17 until the end of June. The opening hours of the exhibition are Mondays, Tuesday and Wednesdays between 13:00 and 19:00 or by appointment! [translated] (Lanouvelle.net, Apr. 8, 2010)
