WESTFIELD - Lindalee "Lee" M. (Dorman) Couture of Westfield, MA, age 70, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at her home. She was the wife of Raymond A. "Skip" Couture and mother of Paris Lee. Lee was born in Holyoke, MA on December 14, 1940, daughter of the late John M. and Edna (Murphy) Dorman. She dearly cherished her Holyoke roots and the lasting memories she often recalled of those who were near and dear to her as she moved through the Holyoke School System and Holyoke Community College. Lee was only a phone call or an email away for those who needed info or help in trying to locate a school friend from the "old days". Lee's interests were vast. However, she was passionately interested in the welfare of all animals and the ultimate care she could provide for her pets. At the time of her death, Lee was affiliated with Coldwell Banker in MA. Before moving to Westfield from Paris Farm in Somers, CT in 1997 she and her family were involved for many years in breeding, training and showing horses. Her love of horses began when she was introduced to them in the lesson programs at Mt. Holyoke College as a six year old and remained with her throughout her life. Lee's family wishes to acknowledge with utmost gratitude the many years of dedicated care and concern of Dr. Thomas E. Judd of Holyoke, MA. The family has requested that donations in Lee's memory be made to the Westfield Homeless Cat Project, 1124 East Mountain Rd. 1. Obit: Beverly Harvey Milo, 83, of Hermitage, Pennsylvania, and previously of Jacksonville, Florida, and Upper Arlington, Ohio, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2019. Born in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, in 1935, she was the daughter of Alta and Olin Harvey, and older sister to Glendine (“Glennie”), who passed away in 1984. Beverly married George Milo in 1956, and they were married for over 60 years until his passing in 2016. Their large and loving family includes sons Gregg (Liz), Michael (Deborah), David (Tracy), and daughter Denise Lewis (Mark). Mrs. Milo made her home with daughter Denise and family during the last years of her life. Mrs. Milo was a wonderful mother who was involved in her children’s activities, and an integral part of their happiest memories. She worked first selling Avon, later in the local Lazarus department store, and finally in the Columbus, Ohio banking community, where she rose to the rank of branch manager. She was instrumental in her husband’s success as he earned his doctorate and began a long and accomplished career in cancer research at The Ohio State University.
In her retirement, Mrs. Milo enjoyed the warm weather of Florida, and summers in North Hero, Vermont. Some of her favorite things included beautiful wildflowers, well-tended gardens, a good glass of chardonnay, and Hallmark movies. She loved to travel, and was a frequent cruiser. She was a fabulous cook who made everyday meals special, and a master of complex recipes that made holidays more festive. She was generous with her talents as well as with her recipes. Her greatest joy was her family, and she doted on her grandchildren Alicia Bateson (Park), Lindsey Mortimer (Joe), Ayrinne Lattin (Ryan), Luke Lewis, Nick Milo, Caroline Milo, Jason Milo, Afton Milo, Joseph Milo (Caitlin), and Colin Milo. She was a loving great-grandmother to Denver, Sophia, Milo, Xavier, Ryker, and Rita.
The family will conduct Memorial Masses at their respective parishes to celebrate her life and give thanks for the many warm memories they share. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial gifts to St. Anne’s Shrine, 92 St. Anne’s Road, Isle La Motte, Vermont 05463.

Beverley married George Edward Milo on 30 Jun 1956 in Morrisville, Lamoille Co., VT. George was born on 6 Nov 1932 in Montpelier, Washington Co., VT. He died on 13 Dec 2016 in Jacksonville, Duval Co., FL.

2. George Edward Milo
Dr. George E. Milo, 84, of Jacksonville, Florida, and North Hero, Vermont, passed away in the early morning hours of December 13, 2016. George was under the care of hospice following a severe stroke suffered in late October. Born in Montpelier, Vermont, in 1932, he was the son of George and Catherine Milo. George is survived by his wife of 60 years, Beverly, and a large and loving family, including sons Gregg (Liz), Michael (Deborah), David (Tracy), and daughter Denise Lewis (Mark). Dr. Milo received both his BS and MS degrees from the University of Vermont, and earned his PhD in human physiology from the University of Buffalo. He was a member of the senior leadership who founded the Comprehensive Cancer Center at The Ohio State University in 1970, and was an integral force in the successful design and development of the “state of the science” basic research laboratory space contained in the James Cancer Hospital and Research Institute constructed during the 1980s. Dr. Milo was the program director of the highly productive carcinogenesis program of the cancer center. With over 200 peer-reviewed publications in the field of carcinogenesis, Dr. Milo was awarded approximately $20 million in peer-reviewed funded grants from the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health. In 1997, he and his group successfully isolated and patented an important tumor suppressor gene of the cell cycle. Dr. Milo was also an exceptional teacher and mentor, and for more than fifteen years served as the Principle Investigator of an NIH Training Grant for fellows in molecular biology and related fields. More than 100 fellows and graduate students have been supported by his NIH training grant at The Ohio State University and all have gone on to pursue successful careers in academic medicine. Dr. Milo spearheaded development of The Ohio State University Center of Molecular and Environmental Health (CMEH), and in 1994, was named as its founding Director. The CMEH was instrumental in providing support and start up funding for new faculty critical to the subsequent development of The Ohio State University School of Public Health in 1995. Dr. Milo worked selflessly with faculty in Preventive Medicine to bring the new School of Public Health to fruition. He was named Professor Emeritus at The Ohio State University, and in 2010 was recognized as an Outstanding Alumni of the University of Vermont. In addition to his career as an academician, Dr. Milo was also active in community affairs, and spearheaded the building of the Northwest Swim Club in Columbus, and the Ridgeview Junior High School sports complex. In his retirement, he enjoyed gardening in a yard filled with flowers and citrus trees, and basked in the warm weather while swimming almost year ‘round in his pool. He was a proud Grandpa to Alicia Bateson (Park), Lindsey Mortimer (Joe), Ayrinne Lattin (Ryan), Luke Lewis, Nick Milo, Caroline Milo, Jason Milo, Afton Milo, Joseph Milo (Caitlin), and Colin Milo. He was a doting great-grandfather to Denver, Sophia, Milo, and Rita. The family will conduct Memorial Masses at their respective parishes to celebrate his life and many contributions. 1. Daughter of Daniel Carmin Lepri and Angelina M. Marcati.

2. Obit: Beloved teacher will be sorely missed
It's hard for Cindy Kramer to even enter the classroom that belonged to her friend and coworker, Judith Keith. The sudden death of the woman she called her "soul mate in education," she said, makes it just too painful. That sixth-grade social studies classroom, arranged as Keith left it her final day at school March 4, is a heartbreaking reminder of the loss North Haven Middle School faces in the wake of her death, school officials said.
"She's an inspiration," said Kramer, a sixth-grade social studies teacher who worked closely with Keith. "That's the only way to describe her."
Keith died March 6 at her Hamden home. She was 58. The cause of her death was unknown at press time, and family members were awaiting autopsy results. The 38-year teaching veteran wasn't ill, and her unexpected passing has left family and friends reeling, said her husband, Ed Keith. "She was a very giving person," Keith said. "She was a woman who was willing to give to help her fellow man." Keith spent her entire career, spanning nearly four decades, in North Haven's schools, her husband said. Once offered a more lucrative job at a private school, she turned it down in favor of staying in a public school system.
"That's the kind of person she was," Keith said. "She came from New Haven (public schools) and it was a struggle for her financially to get through college. She thought she owed it to the kids in public schools to have a good teacher."
Keith taught in various grades between kindergarten and sixth grade throughout her career. Her husband, and Superintendent Sara Jane Querfeld, agreed that Keith was "a teacher students came back to" for guidance and advice. Querfeld recalled talks with parents whose children took Keith's class where she was told "how helpful Judy was."
"She was as enthusiastic and sharp in her 38th year as she was every other year," said Querfeld, who, having once been the chairwoman of the social studies department in the district worked closely with Keith.
For Kramer, who attended Wilbur Cross High School in New Haven with Keith before the two became co-workers in North Haven, the loss is even more immense. At North Haven Middle School, "we had the tendency to dress alike at school, and people would ' mix us up," Kramer said. "Sometimes we'd tell the kids we were sisters."
Crisis intervention counselors were available for students, and youths affected by Keith's death participated in making memorial posters for her family, Keith said. Keith's popularity never suffered as a result of her reputation as a "tough" teacher who "expected a lot of her students," her husband said. "She rewarded you if you did a good job," Keith said. "She cared for the welfare of the kids ' that was her best interest."
Born in New Haven on March 19, 1946, she was the daughter of Angelina Marcati Lepri and the late Daniel C. Lepri. She attended Southern Connecticut State University, where she obtained her bachelor's and master's degrees in education. She joined the North Haven school system in 1967, was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority of Professional Educators and was active in the Connecticut Teachers' Association. She had one daughter, Patricia Marie.
Of all the things Judith Keith was ' wife, mother, gardener, giver ' "mostly, she was a teacher," Keith said. "She touched the kids to a point where they would ask to have her (class) again."
Memorial contributions may be made to the New Haven Scholarship Fund, 100 York St., P.O. Box 8936, New Haven, CT 06532. (North Haven Citizen, March 18, 2005)
