Her great-grandparents were settled in Washington before statehood. She spent her earliest years on her parents hop ranch in Moxie, Yakima County. The family moved to Seattle and then Chicago when her father became Vice President of United Air Airlines and its top inventor. When her father died suddenly, she and her mother returned to Seattle. She attended boarding schools with her cousin, Bill Boeing, Jr., at Pebble Beach, CA and Punahou in Hawaii, and graduated from St. Nicholas School (now Lakeside), Seattle. Her husband's career with Monsanto took them to Southern California where she raised their four sons and supported Bill's growing plastic coatings construction company, which took them eventually to many corners of the world, including the Middle East. Bill's contracts with oil refineries brought them to the Anacortes area of Washington where they built a vacation home on nearby Guemes Island. Throughout her life Jane rewarded her family and friends with unstinting love and never failed to impress them with her works of art in fabric, metal and print. Of particular note were her love of and creation of miniature books. He attended Friends School in Wilmington and graduated from Kent School in Kent, Connecticut in the class of 1945, though he enlisted in the U.S. Navy after his junior year and served from December 1944 to July 1946 before going on inactive reserve status. He graduated from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut in 1950 and was called back to active duty during the Korean War, serving as cargo officer on naval vessels in the Caribbean and North Atlantic. After his naval service, Francis began a career with the DuPont Company, moving to Kinston, North Carolina where he worked as a supervisor in a DuPont Dacron plant. He returned to Wilmington in 1957 to join fiber product sales at DuPont and worked there until 1967 when he joined the Photo Products Division in Chicago. He returned to Wilmington again in 1969 to join cousin E.I. (Brud) duPont and Richard V. King at Delfi Management, where Francis worked in marketing and sold the firm’s Sigma mutual fund investments. He retired from Delfi in 1975 and devoted himself to conservation, charitable and historical endeavors for the rest of his life. Francis was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, boating and camping, and pursued a lifelong passion for gardening and beekeeping. He was a member of the Philadelphia Society for the Promotion of Agriculture for many years. These interests led him to join with George A. (Frolic) Weymouth and William Prickett in the founding of the Brandywine Conservancy, which now holds more than 480 conservation easements and has protected more than 64,500 acres from development in Chester and Delaware Counties, Pennsylvania and in New Castle County, Delaware. Francis played a major role in the development and construction of the Kalmar Nyckel, Delaware’s replica of the ship that Peter Minuit sailed across the Atlantic in 1638 bringing settlers from northern Europe to found New Sweden on the Christina River. For more than a decade the work of fundraising and organizing, and eventually launching this ship was his principal focus. He made lasting friendships with many enthusiastic partners in this ongoing project. Francis also worked as a volunteer for years in the DuPont family residence gardens at Hagley and at Longwood Gardens, bringing together his lifelong love of the plants and soil of the Brandywine Valley and the institutions his family established and nurtured for all to enjoy. Francis was well known for his deep and steadfast Christian faith. He taught Sunday School at Christ Church for many years, participated regularly in several bible study groups and was a longtime supporter of charitable organizations such as Urban Promise and the Ministry of Caring. He is survived by his brother, Peter R. duPont and his wife Jeanie of New York, NY; five children from his first marriage to Rosamond L. duPont, who predeceased him in 2021: Augustus I. duPont and his wife Jill of Greenwich, CT and Chilmark, MA; Emile F. duPont and his wife Lindsay of Hastings-on-Hudson, NY; Maria S. duPont and her husband Bob Penneys of Chadds Ford, PA; Sophie G. duPont of Broomall, PA; and Louis R. duPont and his wife Ellen Spring of Starksboro, VT; three children of his second wife Elizabeth B. duPont, who predeceased him in 2009: Robert B. Swezey and his wife Kellie of Valrico, FL; Duncan F. Swezey and his wife Laura of Ambler, PA; and Dan H. Swezey of Wilmington, DE; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. There will be a celebration of life in memory of Francis at Christ Church, Greenville, Delaware on Friday, September 23, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception in the Parish Hall. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Brandywine Conservancy, Kalmar Nyckel Foundation, Urban Promise or the Ministry of Caring. 813. Susannah Manwaring Lee (Burton James Lee , Mabel Kershaw , Mary Elizabeth Leavenworth , Jesse Henry Leavenworth , Elizabeth Shaw Eunice Morrison , John , Samuel ) was born in May 1932 in Manhattan, New York, NY. She died on 8 Dec 2015 in Salt Lake Co., UT. Susannah was buried in Saratoga, NY.

1. Susannah Lee Lunt
Wilson resident Susannah Lee Lunt died Dec. 8 in Salt Lake City following a short illness after surgery. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Dr. John Lunt, only three weeks earlier. Her family provided the following.
Susie was born in May 1932 in New York City to Burton James Lee Jr. and Rosamond Auchincloss Lee. She was educated at Garrison Forrest boarding school, Bennett Junior College, and Columbia University nursing school.
Susie grew up a debutante on Long Island but had a tomboy streak. She was an accomplished athlete, whether climbing and skiing in the Alps, competing in tennis and swimming, or riding in an English foxhunt.
Susie met the man she would marry, a medical student, while at Columbia. She and John Lunt had a passion for the outdoors, skiing and hiking and shared a love of the West. After graduating they married in 1955.
In 1957 John, Susie and their infant twin sons moved to Berlin, where John worked as an Army doctor.
When they returned two years later they moved to the Denver area, where they bought a small farm. They had three more children and raised horses, cows, pigs, geese, chickens, dogs and cats. They began dreaming about owning a ranch someday. In the meantime, Susie nurtured her love of gardening and was the ultimate hostess.
Whether it was a giant Easter egg hunt for 30, dressing as the wicked witch at Halloween and frightening children, or arranging huge Christmas parties and local rodeos for all ages, Susie was at home in many roles.
Summers were spent backpacking in the Rocky Mountains, where Susie was always the last hiker while she identified flora with her ever-present flower book. Winters were spent skiing in the powder snow of Steamboat, Colorado, where she and John had built a cabin. The family had countless memorable weekends and vacations in Steamboat, skiing, sledding, and hosting a stream of visitors.
Susie and John took the family on adventures to Alaska, Baja and the East Coast, among other places, all perfectly planned by Susie.
After years of dreaming about a ranch, in 1977 they found one in Saratoga. They built the Highline Ranch from the ground up, and while John worked as the town doctor Susie, along with a ranch manager, spent her days riding, herding cattle, driving tractors, tending to sick calves, creating stunning flower beds and a bountiful vegetable garden and feeding anyone who entered her kitchen, hungry or not. She was known for making enough food to feed an army.
Susie had tireless energy, and in the little free time she had she loved to garden, read, write letters and knit. She was a prolific and talented knitter, and with new grandchildren coming along regularly she never lacked for a project. Susie's mantra was "It is better to wear out than to rust away," and she lived up to the motto. Finally, after 35 years of ranch life, she and John moved to Wilson.
Susie was known for her sense of humor, her loud exclamations (Lord love a duck! Good gussy! Heavens to Murgatroyd! Godfrey Loomis!), her outspoken nature, her generosity and her love of life and laughter.
She was always the life of the party.
We can honor Susie by walking into a garden and appreciating the flowers and picking a raspberry or two, by writing a letter to a friend or by going to a party and toasting friends, family and love.
Susannah Lee Lunt was preceded in death by her parents and her devoted husband and life partner, John. She is survived by her brothers Burton James Lee III, Jared Lee and Timothy Lee, sisters Rosamond DuPont, Mary Jo Balkind, Cecilia DeWolf and Marion Lee, sons Alex (Sandy), John (Nancy), Sam (Deb) and Bill (Mae Ling), daughter Susie (Larry) and many loving grandchildren.
Donations in Susie's honor may be sent to Heifer International via Heifer.org. A memorial for Susie and her husband, John, will be held in June in Saratoga. Her ashes, along with John's, will be spread on the Highline Ranch by their family.

Notes:
1. Cremated. Specifically: John's ashes, along with his wife Susie's, were spread on the Highline Ranch in Saratoga by their family in June 2016.

Susannah married John Lunt on 10 Sep 1955 in Cold Spring Harbor, LI, NY. John was born on 28 Jun 1928 in Stockbridge, Berkshire Co., MA. He died on 10 Nov 2015 in Salt Lake Co., UT. He was buried in Saratoga, NY.

1. Son of Lawrence Kirby Lunt and Marjory G. Donaldson.

2. Lunt, 87, loved the land, was good listener
Wilson resident Dr. John Lunt died Nov. 18 2015 in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the age of 87.
His family provided the following.
Lives he touched are countless, and patience, kindness, humility and common sense were his trademarks. John would not like people making a fuss about his passing. He would prefer a smile and a nod recognizing his love of life, family, friends and laughter.
Dr. Lunt was born in 1928 in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, to Dr. Lawrence Lunt and Marjorie Glen Lunt. He attended Middlesex boarding school, graduated from Cornell University with an agriculture degree and attended medical school at Columbia University, where he trained in general surgery. He was a prankster in college, sneaking into the Cornell bell tower to ring the bells during ROTC practice and once encasing a drunken friend in a body cast.
Summers in college were spent working at his father's ranch near Wheatland in a valley teeming with wildlife, and this experience gave him the desire to one day have a ranch of his own.
John married Susannah Manwaring Lee in 1955. In 1957 he joined the Army as a physician and moved to Berlin with his wife and two infant sons. In 1959 John's love of the West brought the family to Denver, where he and Susie had three more children. He worked as a surgeon and was chief of surgery at Swedish and Porters Hospital and president of the Arapahoe County Medical Society.
John and Susie built a small farm in Littleton, Colorado. Raising animals, riding horses, roping calves, and living the country life enticed them to follow their dream of becoming ranchers. After an exhaustive search they settled on the perfect little town of Saratoga. There they found not only a beautiful spot to build their Highline Ranch but also a community in need of a doctor. John became a family practitioner. He expanded a three-room office to the Platte Valley Regional Health Care Center, where he and his nurse practitioner were the sole medical professionals for Saratoga and the surrounding communities.
While John had been an accomplished surgeon, it was the day-to-day contact with the people of Saratoga that he really loved. He spent time with his patients and was an attentive listener. In 2012 he was named the Wyoming Medical Society Physician of the Year. After 18 years as a surgeon and 23 as a family practitioner, he retired from active practice.
John's other passion was the great outdoors. As a father he instilled the love of nature in his children. Drives down back roads were often punctuated by stops to pick up litter. They spent summers backpacking, fishing and river running in Colorado, Wyoming, Mexico and Alaska. He loved powder skiing and could often be heard yodeling while swishing among the trees. His adventurous spirit even took him to Mount Ararat in Turkey as the physician for an expedition searching for Noah's Ark.
Protecting the land for agriculture became a priority after John's retirement. He teamed with the Wyoming Stock Growers Association and founded the Agricultural Land Trust, the first successful endeavor of its kind in Wyoming. Its mission is to conserve working family ranches and farms, open space, natural habitats and rural communities. Over the past decade the trust has brought nearly 225,000 acres to a protected state in perpetuity.
John was the 2009 recipient of the Kurt Bucholz Conservation Award. As emeritus director of the trust he was active in the association until his passing.
John was a devoted husband to Susie, his partner in ranching and in life. September 2015 marked their 60th wedding anniversary. Their children grew up learning the value of hard work and perseverance but also to have fun in life. Learning was a passion of John's. He was an avid reader and a writer of clever rhyming poems. He loved people and engaging them, even his young grandchildren, in deep conversation. He had a great sense of humor and a disarming calm respectfulness about him.
John was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Faith Ackerman and Hillary Ware.
He is survived by his brother, Lawrence Kirby Lunt, loving wife, Susannah Lee Lunt, sons Alexander (Sandy), John (Nancy), Samuel (Deborah) and William (Mae Ling), daughter Susie (Larry) and many loving grandchildren.
John leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and respect for nature. He will be sorely missed.
John would prefer that those who cared about him do something kind, pick up some litter or smell the earth after a rain. Raise a glass and share a funny story and remember his bushy eyebrows.
Donations in John's honor can be sent to the Wyoming Stock Growers Land Trust, WSGaLT.org.
A memorial will take place in Saratoga in the spring. John's ashes will be spread on the Highline Ranch by his family.
