Fort Sill, Oklahoma (AHTNC) -Army Pvt. Bobby D. Chuculate, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Chuculate, Route 1, Stilwell, is receiving eight weeks of advanced individual artillery training at The Artillery and Missile Center, Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Chuculate is being trained in the duties of a cannoneer in a 105 millimeter howitzer section. The 23-year-old soldier attended Cavo Springs High School. Lewis Chuculate Jr. 30, a former resident of Adair County, died Sunday, July 23 in a Chicago, ILL., hospital from injuries sustained in a freak accident the evening before. Relatives said Chuculate was fatally injured in a motorcycle accident. They said he mounted the machine, which belonged to a friend and accidentally engaged the clutch. Thev said he was unfamiliar with the motorcycle controls and the machine ran away with him. He was born Mav 26, 1936 in Bunch, and attended Cave Springs Highschool. He was a member of the Bunch Baptist Church. He lived in Chicago about 12 years and was employed there as a printer in a clothing factory. Survivors include: his wife, Mrs Bertha Chuculate of the home in Chicago; two sons, Jackie Chuculate, stationed with the US Army in Germany, and Bobbv Don Chuculate of the home; his parents, Mr and Mrs Lewis Chuculate of Lvon Switch; and six brothers, Charles Chuculate, stationed with the U.S. Air Force in Niagara Falls, N.Y., Ben and Baxter Chuculate, both of Stilwell, Henry Chuculate; Russellville, Ark., Willie Chuculate, stationed with the U.S. Army in California. and Thomas Chuculate, a student at Oklahoma State Tech, Okmulgee. Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 29 in the Bunch Baptist Church with the Rev Noble Casey officiating. LANDER -- Funeral services were held Monday from the Trinity Episcopal Church in Lander for Harold James Rush. 54. of Fort Washakie who died July 18 at Bishop Randall Hospital in Lander after a long illness. Mr. Rush was born Jan. 8. 1914 at Fort Dodge. Iowa, the son of Arthur and Mary Rush. He married Lillian Rees at Lansing, Mich, on March 11, 1937. He had lived in the Lander area for 20 years and was a soil conservationist on the Wind River Indian Reservation. An active member of the community. Mr. Rush was a member of Wyoming Lodge 2. AF & AM: a past high priest of the Royal Arch Masons. Mt. Horeb 6: past Illustrious Master of Lander Council 4. Royal and Select Masters: a member of Hugh De Payen Commandery 7: Knights Templar: a past president of the Lander Shrine Club and a member of Korein Temple, Rawlins. He was an active leader in the Warm Valley 4-H Club and held a 15 year leadership pin. He was past president of the 4-H Leaders Council, past president of the Lander Toastmasters Club, past president of the Lander Garden Club, past chairman of the state Conservation Federation of State Garden Clubs, a past associate guardian of Job's Daughters, past associate counselor of De Molay. past worthy patron of the Eastern Star and served on the Bishop's Council of St. Davids Episcopal Church and the Church of the Redeemer at Fort Washakie lor 15 years. LANDER - Funeral services for Lander resident Lillian Mildred "Lee" Rush, 88, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday. April 5, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lander by the Rev. Bob Eldan. Burial will follow next to her husband in Mount Hope Cemetery in Lander. She died April 1, 2003, at Wind River Health Care in Riverton. Born Nov 25, 1914, in Bay City, Mich., she was the daughter ol Burton and Winifred (Finn) Rees. She attended Michigan State College, where she met Harold James "Jim'' Rush. The couple was married in 1937. The family transferred to different locations while her huslwnd worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs and they lived in Fort Washakie from 1946 to 1965. She worked in the post office for 12 years. After her husband's death, she moved to Lander and worked at Baldwin's Clothing Store for five years and the Comer Drug for 10 years. She had resided at the Showboat Retirement Center since 1995. She was devoted to her family; loved her friends; and was known for her generosity toward others and creative art projects. Memberships included Olivet Chapter No 3, Order of Eastern Star; Sheridan Temple, Daughters of the Nile; Trinity Episcopal Church and its Daughters of the King; and PEO Sisterhood Chapter BB, of Lander. Survivors include her daughter and son in-law, Judy and Dick lnberg of Riverton; four granddaughters; a grandson; three great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law; brother, Robert Rees of Oroville, Calif.; a sister-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. LANDER -- Services for Thomas Arthur Rush, 44, will be conducted Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Lander by Rev. Tim Sersen. A Service of Remembrance and Friendship will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the church. Visitation will be Tuesday until 4 p.m. at the Chapel of Mount Hope, Hudson's Funeral Home and then at the church. Cremation will follow the service. Mr. Rush died March 14, 1993, at his home in Lander of cancer. He born April 12, 1948 in Hardin, Mont. to H. Jim and Lee M. (Rees) Rush. The family returned to Wyoming when he was nine months old and he grew up on the Wind River Indian Reservation near Lander. On April 16, 1969 he married Christine E. Range in Lander. At the age of 14, he was employed by Paul Hines at the Hines General Store and later in Lander with the National Outdoor Leadership School. Mr. Rush wrote short stories and cowboy poetry for the Lander Wyoming State Journal for seven years. He published two books, "Life in a Jar" and "Throw the Mother-In-Law From the Canoe". Mr. Rush also served as the news director for KOVE and KDLY FM Radio Stations during the past three years. He and his wife were also foster parents for the past three years, raising nine foster children. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era and was a member of Richard Pogue Post No. 81 of the American Legion. Mr. Rush was an active horseshoe pitcher and a member of the Sinks Canyon Horseshoe Club and the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association. He was also an active member of Faith Lutheran Church. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two daughters, Cherie and Angela Rush, all of Lander; and a sister, Judy Inberg of Riverton. He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, one sister and an infant daughter. in Lieu of flowers, memorials to the Rush Children College Scholarship Fund in care of Faith Lutheran Church would be apprciated by the family. Veteran newsman and cowboy poet Tom Rush died of cancer Sunday. He was 44. Rush was news director at KOVE Radio in Lander, Wyo., at the time of his death. He worked at the Wyoming State Journal from 1986 to 1990, where he was a columnist, reporter and news editor. He also published two volumes of cowboy poetry and humor columns, Life in a Jar and Throw the Mother-in-Law From the Canoe. (Rocky Mountain News, Mar. 20, 1993)
