Lanny, formerly of Corona, CA, passed away on January 17, 2005 in Kingman, AZ, where he recently retired. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Christian; mother, Donna Christian; children; Julie Roth, Jeff Christian, Jill Woody, Tim Stapp, and Donnie Stapp; 11 grandchildren; sister, Rita Barker; brothers, Scott and Larry. He was preceded in death by his father Florian and his brother Wally. He attended Lakewood High School, then served four years in the U.S. Marines as a jet engine mechanic. He spent his remaining years in home construction. He was a master in many areas of the carpentry trade and completed many beautiful projects. Lanny was very charismatic; something magic happened whenever he entered a room. Conversations with him were always easy and fun and a hug from him was a special treat. His passion for singing will be remembered by many. He deeply loved his family and friends and was always there to lend a hand. All who were lucky to know him will miss him terribly. Public viewing will be held at 1:00 PM, with services and reception following at Miller Jones Mortuary, 26770 Murrieta Road, Sun City, CA. Lanny will be interred at Riverside National Cemetary. Walter “Wally" Pepin Christian 46, of 332 Franklin Place Longview died July 22, 1997, at St John Medical Center. A cause of death was not provided. He was born Feb 21, 1951 in San Antonio Texas and was raised and educated in Lakewood Calif graduating from Lakewood High School. He also graduated from Western Culinary Institute in Portland and Clover Park Vocational Educational Center in Tacoma in restaurant management. Mr. Christian was a chef at the Monticello Hotel. He also had been the chef at Ferguson’s Restaurant for 22 years and chef at the Duck Inn Restaurant in Cathlamet. He enjoyed charity work and cooked meals for Ducks Unlimited. Other hobbies and interests were fishing cooking and collecting recipes and cookbooks. He liked spending time with family and friends. He and Jane LaFountaine were married March 23, 1991, in Lincoln City, Ore. She survives him at home. Also surviving are a son, Damien Christian of Albuquerque N.M., three daughters, Debbie Cutbirth, Kim Mier and Julie Webb, all of Longview, his parents Florian and Donna (Temple) Christian of Norwalk, Calif, three brothers, Lanny Christian and Scott Christian both in California and Larry Christian of Portland, a sister Rita Barker of Austin Texas and nine grandchildren. There will be a celebration of life service at 2 pm Monday at Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park. Private interment will take place at Longview Memorial Park. Jeanne Wertheimer, 89, passed away at the Hospice Care Center Oct. 16 2011. Jeanne Elizabeth Hibberd was born May 10, 1922, in Coeur d’Alene Idaho to Thomas and Laura Hibberd. She moved to Longview in 1942 where she worked in the Longview Fibre bag plant and later during World War II as a burner in the Vancouver shipyards. Following her marriage to Jack Ferguson the two opened the Triple X (XXX) in 1948. This later became Ferguson’s Restaurant. After Jack was killed in a plane crash in 1960 Jeanne continued to run the restaurant until donating the property to Lower Columbia College in 1994. Jeanne married the "love of her life" Phillip Wertheimer in 1963. The two traveled to many exotic locations around the world. Jeanne was renowned amongst her friends for her gourmet cooking great parties and her flower and vegetable gardens. She was active in the Longview Country Club where she enjoyed playing bridge. With her husband Phil, Jeanne helped to establish the Lower Columbia College Foundation. She was also a legacy sponsor of Ducks Unlimited and gave generously to the St. John Medical Foundation. With Jeanne’s passing a bequest made to Reed College in Portland will come into play. Having come from a very humble beginning Jeanne learned from and followed Phil's lead in her very generous donations. Jeanne is survived by a sister June Thomas of Edgewood, Wash., a daughter, Penni Richards of Spokane, four grandchildren, Heidi Saunders of Hudson, Fla., Wendy Doehne of Longview, Eric Richards of Seattle and Damien Christian of LaCenter, Wash., four great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Abigail and Olivia Doehne and Ayden Christian a great-great-grandson, Zion and several nieces and nephews including her niece and companion, Vicki Ludwick of Longview. She was preceded in death by her husband Phillip Wertheimer in 1990 and a daughter, Stephanie Ferguson in 2004. At Jeanne's request there will be no service. Stephanie was born in Longview, Washington and graduated from Mark Morris High School in 1971. She loved animals and opened up her 10 acre home and heart to miniature horses, donkeys, mules, as well as numerous cats, and most recently a family of stray, hungry raccoons. She was co-owner of Ferguson's Restaurant, which was donated in 1994 to Longview Community College.
She had a big heart and loved people.
She could strike up a conversation with anyone about anything.
She loved music and going to concerts.
The Beatles were one of her favorite bands.
She loved to shop.
She had an amazing shoe collection.
She was very talented in arts and crafts.
She loved making beaded necklaces for everyone and teaching others to appreciate this as well.
She also made her own cards with her large rubber stamp collection and made the most beautiful wrapping paper at Christmas time.She is preceded in death by her husband, Wally Christian; her father, Jack Ferguson, and her step-father, Phillip Wertheimer.Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Damien & Tina Christian; her mother, Jeanne Wertheimer; her brother and sister-in-law, Grant & Karen Ferguson; sister, Penni Richards; her nephew, Eric Richards; her niece, Wendy Doehne; and many cousins. There will be no services planned.
