The home of Dr. and Mrs. F. H. Carter was the scene of one of the loveliest fall weddings Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock when their daughter Miss Florence Carter became the bride of Forrest Ladd son of Mr and Mrs Carroll Ladd of Derby. The ceremony took place at the south end of the large living room which was beautifully decorated for the occasion. A tall hemlock graced the center wall while two tall vases of autumn leaves and autumnal shades of gladioli were arranged on either side these were flanked with baskets of yellow helenium and wine-red gladioli while at the base of the hemlock were two low baskets of bronze smoky-lavender and blue-red gladoli. Rev. Earl A. Vincent pastor of the United Church officiated the double ring service being used. The bride was attired in a wine chiffon velvet street length dress and carried an arm bouquet of talisman roses. Her father Dr. Carter gave her in marriage. The maid of honor Miss Nan Carter sister of the bride wore a soldier crepe with white accessories. Donald Ladd brother of the groom acted as best man both he and the groom wearing white carnation boutonnieres. Mrs. Carter mother of the bride wore a navy-blue sheer dress while the groom's mother Mrs. Ladd was attired in brown sheer both had corsages of talisman roses. The dining room was lovely the table decorations being pink and lavender and red asters baby breath hemlock and ferns while the buffet was adorned with copper and red-shaded zinuas asters ferns and nepeta. Justin Curtis had charge of the decorations. Following the ceremony an informal reception was held. Only the immediate members of both families attended the wedding and reception Mr. and Mrs. Ladd left immediately following the ceremony on a trip to Springfield Mass where they will attend the Exposition and will visit relatives at Cape Cod and various other points. On their return they will make their home in Derby in a newly furnished apartment which awaits them. The bride is a graduate of Derby Academy and Burlington Business College, organist in the United Church for the past ten years and has been employed in the town clerk’s office for ten years and assistant town clerk for the past five years which position she will continue to fill. The groom is a graduate of Derby Academy and Baypath Institute of Springfield Mass and is department head of the hardware department in Montgomery Ward store in Newport. Forrest S. Ladd, 49, former manager of the Sunbury Montgomery Ward Store, died suddenly Wednesday at the office his physician in Newport, Vermont, after suffering an attack. Mr. Ladd was a resident of Derby, Vermont since July. During his stay in Sunbury as manager of the Montgomery Ward Store he was active in many civic affairs and when he left the community was president of the Kiwanis Club. He was also active in the Elks Lodge, American Legion and Central Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce. He was a veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Turner Ladd, at home; five children, Michael, Sunbury: Daniel, Bucknell University; John. Kutztown State College, and William and Jeanne, both at home, also three grandchildren. Mr. Ladd left Sunbury during May when he was assigned as an operating superintendent for the retail chain. He resigned his position and moved to Vermont in July. Funeral services will be held from the Derby United Church, Derby, Vermont Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. She was born January 15, 1920, in Newport Center, a daughter of William and Charlotte (Collins) Turner. In 1934 she graduated from Sacred Heart High School. She married Forrest S. Ladd on December 25, 1942. He predeceased her on November 30, 1966, and she later married Vincent Rochefort on October 10, 1981. He predeceased her on April 5, 1992.
At the age of 16 she became a bookkeeper at the former Montgomery Ward store in Newport. She and her husband raised their family in Connecticut and also in Sunbury, Pennsylvania, where she was an Avon representative. They returned to Vermont after Mr. Ladd retired. She moved back to Sunbury where she raised her two youngest children after her husband died. She worked as a bookkeeper for a food distributor. In 1974 she moved back to Vermont where she was a bookkeeper for a fuel oil distributor. She retired after she married Mr. Rochefort.
She held memberships with St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Newport and the North Country Swingers. Her hobbies included spending time with her family at camp A-Ladd-Inn on Lake Salem, traveling to see her children, and playing her piano and organ. In her childhood she sang in the Turner family “No Name Band.” She spent a few years at Michaud Manor in Derby Line which she enjoyed very much. She also appreciated the staff at Union House Nursing Home in Glover.
She is survived by her children: Michael Ladd and his wife, Bonnie, of Glover, David Ladd and his wife, Maria, of Churchville, Maryland, Jon Ladd and his wife, Brenda, of Watervliet, New York, and William Ladd and his wife, Lynda, of Homasassa, Florida; by 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; her stepchildren: Lorraine Gaire of Stafford, New Hampshire, Jane Page and her husband, Sam, and Kathleen Murray and her husband, David, all of New Castle, New Hampshire, and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughters Jeanne Ladd Marsh and Cheryl Ann Ladd and by her sisters Arlene Rocheleau and Alice Hamlin.
Funeral services were held on February 14 at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Newport where a Mass was celebrated. Spring interment will be in the Derby Center Cemetery.

Derby Line Girl Bride Of Lyndonville Man— Ceremony Held At Deby United Church
A pretty wedding took place Saturday afternoon at the Derby Congregational church at 2:30 o'clock when Pauline Ella only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Wayland Ladd of Derby Line became the bride of Frank Albert Hubbard son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred A Hubbard of Lyndonville. Rev E H Nickerson pastor of the Derby church and Rev. H. A. Carson of Hawkesbury, Ont. and former pastor of Stanstead South church officiated at the double ring ceremony. The wedding music was played by Miss Lorraine Benedict and prior to the ceremony Miss Edith Salt soloist sang "Because” and "I Love You Truly”. Baskets of white gladioli were used to decorate the chancel with yellow daffodils and purple iris used to further decorate the church. White satin ribbons and a purple iris marked the guest pew's. The bride was given in marriage by her father with Miss Jean Ladd cousin of the bride as maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Miss Marilyn Taylor and Miss Laurette Morin. Little Miss Louise Barber niece of the groom was flower girl. Ernest Stevens was best man and the ushers were Leslie Bliss and Reginald McDonald. The bride was charming in a floor-length gown of white Chantilly lace and nylon net over bridal satin designed with a fitted lace bodice fastening with satin and lace covered buttons in the back and finished with a Queen Elizabeth collar and petal point long sleeves. The full skirt featured lace inserts at the front and her double nylon net fingertip veil fell from a cap of seed pearls and rhinestones. She carried a cascade bouquet of yellow roses. The maid of honor was in orchid and the bridesmaids in canary yellow ballerina length gowns fashioned alike of nylon net over taffeta with full skirts accented with rosebuds and strapless bodices topped with matching net and taffeta boleros. Their headdresses were of matching nylon net with small flowers and they carried colonial bouquets of daffodils and purple iris. The flower girl was attired in a frock of yellow nylon over taffeta styled with a full hoop skirt fitted bodice and puff sleeves. Her hair bandeau was of yellow rosebuds and she carried a basket of flower petals. Mrs. Ladd the bride’s mother was in an ensemble of slate blue with a Chantilly lace jacket and wore a white feather-trimmed straw hat and accessories and a corsage of yellow roses. Mrs. Hubbard the groom’s mother was in an ensemble of navy and wore a Chantilly lace jacket with a white straw hat with navy trim and navy and white accessories and a corsage of yellow roses. A reception was held at the Methodist church vestry where 250 guests were received. The bride’s table was arranged with a white linen cover centered with a four-tier wedding cake decorated in white and silver and topped with a miniature bride and groom under an arch of flowers. Frank was born in Lyndon, Vt. on Oct. 31, 1933. He was the son of Fred Albert Hubbard and Sylvia Maria King Hubbard.
Frank grew up on the Hubbard Homestead Farm and attended Squabble Hollow School from which he graduated in 1947. He then attended Lyndon Institute graduating in 1951 and Lyndon Teachers College graduating in 1955. He received his Master's Degree from Plymouth State College in 1970. He also had a Certificate of Advanced Studies.
Frank married his first wife Pauline Ella Ladd (Hubbard) in 1955 and they were married for 41 years. After Pauline's passing in 1996 he married Joan White Parker (Hubbard) in 2001.
During college at Lyndon State he worked at the Hood Creamery in Lyndonville. After college graduation, he went to work for the St Johnsbury School District where he worked for 33 years in different positions. He first worked as a 5th and 6th grade teacher and school census taker in the summer. He then became a teacher/principal in St Johnsbury Center. After receiving his master's degree, he became a school administrator. After retiring from the School District Frank became a teacher at the Union Baptist Christian School. After retiring from that he became an LNA at the Pines in Lyndonville and worked there twice. Frank was also in the National Guard in the 1960s.
Frank had many other activities: he collected stamps, loved to read and enjoyed working on the family camp in Northern Vermont. He was a member of Gideon's International, National Education Association, Vt. Teachers Association, Vt. Retired Teachers Association, Area & Vt. Counsel on Aging, Guardian/Power of Attorney for Special Needs Individuals. Frank was a member of Union Baptist Church since 1955 and held the office of Deacon, Elder and Adult Sunday School Teacher. He was also instrumental in Union Baptist Church's move from Railroad Street to the present Rt. 5 location.
Frank lived on Cliff Street in St. Johnsbury for 56 years where he took meticulous care of a house that was built in the 1880s. He also could be seen most any summer weekend working on the family camp in Derby doing maintenance and even lugging shingles to the roof well into his 70s.
The family would like to thank Caledonia Home Health and Hospice for all their tender, loving care for us these past four years. We thank Dr. Ready, Laura and all the staff and all the LNAs.
Frank's life can be summed up by his love for God, his family and his desire to help and serve others.
Frank is predeceased by his parents Fred and Sylvia Hubbard, brothers Charles & Calvin Hubbard, twin sisters Emma (Hubbard) Barber & Emily (Hubbard) Thresher and wife Pauline Hubbard.
He is survived by: wife Joan White Parker Hubbard, daughter Cynthia Hubbard Mitchell & her husband George of Littleton, N.H., their daughters Elsbeth and Hannah and three great-grandchildren, son Keith Albert Hubbard and his husband Richard Valenti of Wilton, Conn., daughter Starla Rae Hubbard of St. Johnsbury, Vt., & daughter Heather Ann Hubbard Poole & her husband Stephen of Colchester, Vt., their children Dennis Wayland Poole, Derrick Alan Poole, Chelsea Ann Poole Boardman, Travis Dean Poole and 11 great-grandchildren.

Cindy was born on Sept. 4, 1956, to Frank Albert Hubbard and Pauline Ella (Ladd) Hubbard, who lived on Cliff Street in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. Cindy attended elementary school in St. Johnsbury, where her father was her sixth-grade teacher, she spent the year not knowing whether to call him "Dad" or "Mr. Hubbard."
After graduating from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1974, she went on to Word of Life Bible Institute from 1974-1975. Cindy began nursing school in 1975 at New England Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Boston, graduating in 1978. Shortly after, she began her work as a nurse at Littleton Regional Healthcare and continued there for 43 years.
At LRH, Cindy would be sure that you were greeted with a smile, while you were waking up in the Recovery Room. George and Cindy married in August of 1978 and together took up residence in Littleton, New Hampshire.
Cindy enjoyed teaching Sunday School at Littleton Bible Baptist Church and making bread and other baked goods. During the summer, she could often be found with a book in her hands at her family's camp on Salem Lake in Derby, Vermont. Cindy was also active with the North Country Chorus and Littleton Hospital Auxiliary, becoming a historian and eventually president of both organizations. Cindy was the celebrated chef of North Country Chorus' Madrigal Dinner for several years.
Cindy is predeceased by her father, Frank Hubbard; mother, Pauline Hubbard; and step-mother Joan Hubbard. Cindy leaves behind her husband, George L. Mitchell; daughter Elsbeth Joy West and husband, Malcolm West, and their three children, Edith Ann, Warren Francis, and Eleanor Jean; and daughter Hannah Faith Bowne and husband, Cody Bowne, and their two children, Virginia Louise and Beau Richard. She also leaves siblings Keith Albert Hubbard, husband Rick Valenta; Starla Rae Hubbard, and Heather Ann Poole, husband Steve Poole; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cindy was a sweet and caring woman whose tender gentleness will be missed.

Survived by her husband Ernest H.; two daughters, Mrs. Edith Stokinger, Richardson, Texas and Mrs. Gladys Stokinger, Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday at the Blackburn Funeral Home with the Rev. Owen F. Ireland of the Westminster Presbyterian Church officiating. Gladys and Bob Stokinger recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The Stokingers were married on Feb. 22, 1946, in Roslindale, Mass. They moved to Spring Hill three years ago from Hollis, Maine. The couple have four children: Nancy Buzzell of North Hampton, N.H., Robert of Salt Lake City, John of Rutland, Vt., and Peter of Houlton, Maine. They have seven grandchildren. PORTLAND - Robert Elmer Stokinger died on Jan. 3, 2015, at Maine Medical Center.
He was born on Jan. 4, 1925, in Boston, Mass., the son of the late Frederick John Stokinger Sr. and Catherine V. (Ladd) Stokinger.
He was predeceased by his parents; brothers Frederick Jr. and William M.; and daughter Nancy C. Buzzell. He leaves a wife Gladys (Foster) Stokinger of 68 years; and a sister Barbara E. Tatro of Fort Myers, Fla.
He is survived by sons Robert Foster Stokinger and his wife Mary Duffy of Salviac, France; John Ladd Stokinger and his wife Diane E. Stokinger of Kreamer, Pa.; and Peter Allard Stokinger and his wife Kristie Stokinger of Wasilla, Ark. He has seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Before his retirement he was employed by Maine Surgical Supply Company. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of the Woodfords Congregational Church in Portland, Hiram Lodge AF & AM of South Portland, BPOE #188 of Portland, and the American Legion Post #0017 of Portland.
At his request there will be no services. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester, Mass.
