nightly Session of St. James ’
Guild.
HATLEY, Que., April, 19th. — Honors are still strewing the path of a former Hatley girl, who as Madge Hunter, only child of Mr. W. J,, and the late Mrs. Hunter, of Barnston and Hatley, was in early life, one of the prime favorites throughout the cornmunity. The possession, naturally, of a fine lyric soprano voice, the care and cultivation which has been afforded since her marriage some seven or eight years ago, to Mr. Lawrence E. Parker, and her -subsequent removal to Toronto, has brought the young singer rapidly to the front. For some time past, Madge Hunter Parker, which is both her stage and legal name, has been a pupil of Alfred Bruce, under whose tutelage she received 'distinction as Gold Medallist Lyric Soprano C.N.E., 1925. On Wednesday evening, March 31, Mrs. Parker gave a song recital, in the concert hall, of the Toronto Conservatory of Music, when she was assisted Iby the artists, Murray Adaskin, violinist, and Dr. Harvey Robb as accompianist. The programme consisted of the following fourteen numbers: “Tell Me, My Heart”, Bishop; “Voi Che, Sapete” (Figaro) Mozart; “On Mighty Pens" (Creation) Hayden, (Robert De Diable; “Roberto, O Tri Vhe Adorn” Meyerbur; “My Peace Thou Art ’. Schubert; “The Almond Tree”, Schumann; “Music When Soft Voices Die”, Maurice -Besly; “Vissi D’Arte” (Tosca — Puccini)'; “Villnnelle ”, Dell' Acqua: “Le Portrait”, Parkyns; “Cradle Song”, Tcherpnin ; “My Love She’ s but a Lassie Yet”, Old Scotch Song; “Believe Me If All Those Endearing Young Charms”, Old Irish song: “The Answer”. On Friday between twelve and one o'clock many radios in this section were tuned in on W E A F, New York, for the purpose of hearing Mrs. Madge Hunter Parker, a former well known Hatley girl, who has become a popular radio soloist. The program at this time was given by Canadian artists at the New York station from whence it was broadcast to England. On account of atmospheric conditions only a few were able to hear Mrs. Parker distinctly, but all who did so, were delighted with her beautiful voice and appreciated the tribute paid the home folk in her home town by the singing of "Home Sweet Home", that song which never grows old. The home folks are justly proud of Madge Hunter Parker. (Stanstead Journal, Jan 30 1930, p. 3)10. Prior to moving to Stouffville in 1941 Mr. and Mrs. Parker were on the farm over on the 8th concession of Pickering. After living in Stouffville a short time Mr. Parker bought the property on north Church street known as the McDonald residence, which was classed as one of the town's finest back in 1895 when big homes were being built with justified pride. It suited the Parker needs nicely since they had living with them their daughter and son-in-law and their family. Fifty-four years ago Mr. Parker married Jane E. Kathan. To their marriage seven children were born, all living excepting a son Howard. The surviving members are, daughter Mrs. Robert Bone (Thelma), and five sons Lawrence of Montreal, Glennes of Boston, Mass., Merton, Orval and Clayton all of Toronto. 1. Cheryl A Lee (Remon) 77, of Spring Hill, FL - Passed away on July 13, 2022 after a long illness and recent battle with lung cancer.
Cheryl was a lifelong Beverly resident and moved with her daughter Beth and her family to Spring Hill Florida in 2004. She graduated from Beverly High School in 1963 and attended North Shore Community College. She was the daughter of the late Elmer P. Remon and Mildred C. (Edison) Remon. She is pre-deceased by her brother Larry E. Remon. Cheryl is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Beth and David Hiller of Spring Hill, FL and Tamsen and Scott Lantych, of Danvers, MA. Her grandchildren, Michael, Stephen , Meagan, Sarah, Kate, and Abby , along with 8 great grandchildren will miss her very much.
She loved New England with its' rich history and landscape, from the White Mountains to the beaches, and was especially fond of Lynch Park. She enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening, participating in the Beverly Civil Defense and was an expert gift giver - taking great care in choosing the perfect gift for someone. Music was also a true passion and brought her much happiness - she attended many concerts from John Denver to The Cranberries. Her daughters remember the stereo system with the huge speakers in the living room, their Mom sitting on the floor with headphones on, listening to one of her many classic albums.
Cheryl, adopted at birth, recently learned of her pre-deceased birth mother and extended family. Due to her illness, she was unable to connect with her new family members but took great peace in closing the loop on a lifetime of wondering and adding a wonderful new limb to the family tree for future generations to enjoy.
She (along with her keen sense of humor and strong political views) will be sadly missed by her family. They take great care in knowing she is reunited with her youngest daughter, Tara Harding Lee.
They had the following children:

Master Kenneth Moulton, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Moulton, of this place, has within the past few days suffered two heavy falls, which have caused the little lad considerable pain and discomfort. While standing in the entrance to the barn during a strong wind, the door was blown to, which, striking him with full force and knocking him down, brought the full force of the impact with the cement flooring upon the back of his head. Hardly had he recovered from this experience when he missed his footing and fell from a flight of steps, the blow in this instance being inflicted upon the right side of his face, which, together with the eye, was bruised and discolored.
