HOLDEN - John J. "Jack" McShera, III, 78, formerly of North Myrtle Beach, SC, died Monday, November 4th surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his wife of 30 years, Ellen (Marder) McShera; his three children, John J. McShera, IV and his wife, Elizabeth of Swansea; two daughters, Kathy Martinelli and her husband, Michael of Auburn, Marybeth Brosnihan and her husband, Timothy of Westborough; two brothers, William McShera and his wife, Marion of Worcester, David McShera and his wife Nancy, of Valrico, FL; four sisters, Betty Belanger of Sturbridge, Louise Burch and her husband, Robert of Leicester, Peggy Richards and her husband, Philip of Worcester and Mary Fran Terraccino and her husband, Joseph of South Hackensack, NJ; nine grandchildren, Connor, Kevin, Catie, Kyle, Nicholas, Julianna, Jack, Kayla, Maeve; and many loving nephews, nieces and longtime friends. His two brothers, Robert McShera and Richard McShera, predeceased him. He was the proud patriarch of the McShera family and took great pride in being one of nine children.
He was born in Worcester the son of John and Marguerite (Riopel) McShera. Jack graduated from St. Peter's Central Catholic High School, Worcester Junior College, and served in the Air National Guard. He was a lifelong salesman in the plastics industry retiring from Pitney Bowes. After retirement, he continued to work at Barefoot Resort and Golf, and truly enjoyed his time there. He was an accomplished athlete, a member of the Shrewsbury Tennis Club, the Worcester Running Club, and proudly completed the Boston Marathon twice and the Newport Marathon once. His true passion was golf and he served as The Sterling National Country Club president for several years. His most cherished time was spent with his grandchildren, attending their various sporting events, and supporting all their accomplishments.
His funeral is Saturday, November 9th from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. He loved driving to Saratoga to bet on the horse races and upon discovering Facebook, became an avid user. Richard was a loving, devoted and generous father to his three children, grampy to his granddaughter Maeve, and a father figure to more. His family would like to acknowledge and thank Dr. Venu Bathini and the oncology and infusion teams at UMass for the compassionate care they provided Richard during his illness. Born September 15, 1949, to Richard and Elinor Pyle (née Broughton), Nancy grew up in Groton, Massachusetts with her sister and four brothers. Nancy attended Assumption College in Worcester, MA and McGill University in Montreal. One of her fondest achievements was owning and operating Holden Hills Country Club in Holden, MA. During her tenure there, she was firmly committed to breaking down barriers to membership. Nancy retired in 2019 after years of dedicated work as a contract administrator in the healthcare industry. In 2020, she began working full-time as a doting grandmother.
Nancy married David M. McShera Sr. in 1987. They share a son, David Mark McShera Jr., born in 1988. Shortly after his birth. they escaped the brutal cold winters of Massachusetts and moved to Valrico, FL. Nancy loved the beach, a good book, and a witty remark. During her lifetime she was resolute, unyielding, and utterly selfless.
Nancy leaves behind her husband, David, son, Mark, daughter-in-law, Margaret, and granddaughter, Nora. She is also survived by her sister Pamela Powel and her husband Jake Powel, her brother John Pyle and his wife Debbie Pyle, her brother Michael Pyle and his partner Barbara Ginsberg, along with many other loving nieces, nephews, in-laws, and out-laws. Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Elinor, and her brothers, Richard “Dickie” Pyle and Jonathan Pyle.

CARMEL – Martin R. Reid (Marty), age 64, passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2007 in Carmel CA. A resident of Scottsdale, AZ and Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA, Marty was born December 1, 1942 in Worcester, MA where he lived until joining the Air Force at the age of 18. Following his Honorable Discharge in 1964, Marty returned to his home town and began what would become a distinguished and successful career at Norton Company. He went on to serve in Chairman, Vice Chairman, CEO and/or Director positions of Eastman Christensen Co., Tuboscope Vetco International Corporation, and Scottsdale-based Rental Service Corporation. Marty simultaneously served on numerous Boards throughout his career, including the Advisory Board of Mayo Clinic Scottsdale.
His success in business was founded on the business advice he offered and lived: Hire people you can trust, empower them, then get out of their way. He truly believed people would rise to the occasion if you simply believed in them. His innate ability to motivate employees was enhanced by his genuine concern for everyone that worked for the companies he grew, and his philosophy that employees were Number One, and customers were Number Two.
Marty retired in 1999 and enjoyed his family, travel and golf, once vowing to "move to an easier golf course every ten years!" He is survived by his wife, Carol; son David Reid and his wife Michele of San Mateo, CA; daughter Lisa Reid of Scottsdale, AZ; sister Nancy Sullivan and her husband Don of St. Cloud, FL; and stepdaughter Caron Fischbach of Scottsdale, AZ. Marty's life was highlighted by his two grandchildren, Emily and Aidan.
Marty collapsed on Saturday after making a birdie on Hole # 9 at his new golf club, Quail Lodge in Carmel Valley, CA. The family extends their sincere appreciation to members of Marty's foursome, the Staff and other Club members who came to his immediate aid, the Mid Valley EMT's and all of the staff at the California Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula.
The family attended private services and burial in San Mateo, CA on Saturday, September 8; and will hold a memorial service in Scottsdale, AZ on a date to be determined. Since his retirement, Marty and Carol have been generous supporters of cardiovascular research through the Mayo Clinic Scottsdale and ask that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Martin R. 1. Obit: Oshkosh, WI - Maria Talin, 68, Oshkosh, passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 14, 2018. She was born November 9, 1949, in Amsterdam, daughter of Bill and Frances Linek. Maria was five years old when her family moved to The United States, settling in Chester, Connecticut. She attended the University of Connecticutin Storrs, obtaining a degree in English. Several years later Maria relocated to Cape Cod, Massachusetts,where she met and married her husband, John “Jack” H. Talin. They were married at the First Congregational Church on March 14, 1987. In 1993 the couple relocated once more to Oshkosh, WI, where they quickly felt at home attending First Congregational Church here in town. Maria was active in her church committees, volunteering her time wherever she could, including serving as moderator for the congregation and as treasurer for the Women’s Fellowship group, and singing in the choir. Her church family will dearly miss her. Maria also enjoyed volunteering with the Wisconsin Master Gardeners, painting, and traveling with Jack all around the county and internationally. Maria was previously employed with Anchor Bank as a Mortgage Loan Manager for many years prior to her retirement.
Maria is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Jack; her children: Joanne Amerault and Jonathan Talin; grandchildren: Chelsea and Snow; a sister, Helen DiNetta. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service in celebration of Maria’s life will be held at the First Congregational Church, 137

She was born on May 11, 1937, in Leominster, the daughter of Edward and Arlene Brooks. Mary Jane attended St. Leo's Elementary School and St. Bernard's Central Catholic High School. She was a dedicated secretary for HealthAlliance Hospital for over 30 years, before retiring in 2015. Mary Jane was a devout Catholic and a founding member of Holy Family of Nazareth Parish and its' Women's Guild. Throughout her life, Mary Jane's greatest joy was time spent with her beloved family. She leaves behind her loving husband of 58 years, Walter Cuddahy; her devoted eight children, Edward Cuddahy and daughter-in-law, Cheryl Cuddahy; Kelly Kirouac and husband, Alfred; Cathleen Moran and husband, Matthew; Maureen Papamechial and husband, Christopher; Erin McNiff and husband, William; Timothy Cuddahy and wife, Lisa; Colin Cuddahy and wife, Karen; and Shannon Lora and husband, Robert. LEOMINSTER - Anne Bergeron, 5, of 13 Orchard Terr., died this morning in St. Vincent's Hospital, Worcester, after being struck by a car Monday on Exchange street. The Bergeron girl was transported to St. Vlncent's after the 1.10 p.m. accident, where she had been reported In "guarded" condition with head injuries. Police listed David C. Rolko, 29, of 1045 Main St., as driver of the vehicle which struck Bergeron. Police said Rolko was driving west on Exchange Street at 15 to 20 miles an hour, when the girl was struck in front of 10 Exchange St. Rolko has not been charged in connection with the incident. Ptl. Vin was a founding partner and vice president of sales at ESP Lock Corp. in Leominster.
