He has always loved music and even from an early High School age, started his own dance bands. He served in the US army during WWII in the Pacific as an aircraft gunner. He was transferred to Hawaii where he joined the military band. During that time his band played in Hawaii, Iwo Jima and Okinawa for Bing Crosby, Eddie Bracken, Bob Hope and Doris Day.
He served an honorable LDS mission in Switzerland. After returning to the states, he formed a dance band that performed in various locations. He attended the University of Utah and studied music and engineering. At this time, he met his eternal sweetheart, Theda Lou Christensen. They became engaged on Christmas day, 1952, and were married February 6, 1953, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Arrangements and memorial tree planting are under the direction of Serenity Funeral Home of Southern Utah.- Santa Clara, Utah - Theda Lou Christensen Beyer, age 91, of Santa Clara, Utah – beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away on the afternoon of Sunday, November 29, 2020 from the Covid-19 virus. She lived a life full of service, hard work and love for her family and fellow man. Theda, known as Lou, was born in the family home in Rexburg, Idaho. She passed away at the Dixie Regional Medical Center in Saint George, Utah. She will be laid to rest in the Santa Clara Cemetery in Santa Clara, Utah.
Theda Lou was the fourth child born to Irven and Lucy Irene Christensen. They inspired in her a great desire and love for learning, reading, hard work, make do attitude, and kindness and service to others. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities and most positions available to a righteous sister, but her favorite calling was that of teacher. Whether in seminary or gospel doctrine or, including a mission in San Antonio Texas as well as a couple mission with her husband, Ralph Beyer in Austria. She left home at 14 shortly after her father’s remarriage and worked hard to support herself doing various jobs such as house cleaning and working as an usher in the movie theatre. Theda Lou graduated from high school in Shelley, Idaho. She lived in the school room at the historic Beehive House in Salt Lake City, Utah while attending the University of Utah for some college education. She had a job at the university as well as working at Snelgrove’s Ice Cream Parlor to put herself through college.
She married Ralph Wolfgang Beyer in the Salt Lake City Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah on February 6, 1953. Together they had seven children, Kelley, Gregory R., Heather, Lori, Denise, Kristine, and Val J. They were both strong minded, strong willed, independent people who raised their children to love God, love their country, love family, and were not afraid to try something new and to work hard.
Lou loved to read. She spoke often that when she was young, she would read her parents school and church books because she enjoyed learning and reading so much. She loved to work on family history. She always mentioned how it was like a treasure hunt finding the names and information of family members who had gone before. She also found great joy in gardening. She always had fruit trees and bushes and had a family garden growing in her yard until her arthritis and diminished eye sight prevented her from being able to do that any longer.
Theda Lou was preceded in death by her father Irven, her mother Lucy Irene, her siblings Lea, Lynn J, Gene, Myrel G., and her husband Ralph. She is survived by her half siblings Art (Margaret) Christensen, Dian (Art) Kelly, Kay (Mike) Kelsey, Dale (MaryJo) Christensen, Karl (Leslie) Christensen, children Kelley (Lynn) Ivey, Gregory R. (Minghua) Beyer, Heather (Peter II) Karstens, Lori (Steve) Arnold, Denise (Peter) Baumert, Kristine (Darin) Leach, Val J., grand-children Nick, Jordan, Logan, & Davin Twitchell, Parke Sutton, Lon, Alex, Christopher & Joel Beyer, Jennifer Toone, Shawn Ikenoyama, Peter III, John, & Rosalynn Karstens, Kylie & Rylan Arnold, Jonathan, Lea, Josef, & Caleb Baumert, Ashley Preston Bowden, Andrew (Drew) Leach, twenty-four great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Gary Wayne Wallace was born in Lincoln, California on May 20, 1949. He passed away on June 29, 2018. He was 69. His memorial services will be Friday, July 6th at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on 615 Hollow Way in Nevada City.
Gary married Diane Ivey on June 17, 1972. He is the proud father of four children and two daughter-in-laws: Ryan “Wally”, wife Michelle St. Clair; Julie; Jason, wife Elsie Theurer and Kelsey. He had eight grandchildren that he adored, Haley, Allie, Jaycee, Kate, Kensington, William “Liam”, Jordan, and Harlee.

Gary loved sports and competition. He was an avid basketball and softball player. He also played football in high school and Sierra College. He shared his talents by teaching his children and grandchildren the fundamentals of many sports. He delighted in attending their games and was their biggest fan.
His greatest passions were spending time with family, tending to “Gary’s forest”, listening to The Beatles, and swimming in the Yuba River. It filled his soul to see God’s amazing creations, one of his favorite place to visit was Eagle Falls in Tahoe.
In his simple, humble way, Gary made others feel loved, accepted, and valued. He had a kind and tender heart and loved to laugh. He will be missed by all who knew him. (June 2018)3. Nevada City resident, devoted dad mourned after fatal crash
Gary Wallace was on hand for every game — those of his children and, in turn, his grandchildren. "Gary was always there for everything, for everybody — he was an all-around great dad and person," said longtime friend Gerald "Jerry" Thompson. On Monday, his family was struggling to come to terms with the reality that their "Pops" was gone, killed in a motorcycle crash Friday. Daughter-in-law Michelle Wallace confirmed that his services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 6, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 615 Hollow Way, Nevada City. "He was the most amazing person," she said. "He was always at every sports event — he was just that dad who was always involved in everything." Gary, said Michelle, was dependable to a fault. So when he didn't return home Friday, after leaving the garage door open and his cell phone behind, they knew something was very wrong. "Gary goes and does what he's going to do and comes right back," she said. "When it got dark, we knew it was not good." Son Ryan and granddaughter Allie had spotted Gary leaving McDonald's on his Suzuki motorcycle around 1 p.m. that day, and thought he was heading home. Gary's wife, Diane, raised the alarm at about 7 p.m., spurring a widespread search by family members and friends that included the church he attended and his favorite spots along the river. "We were panicking," Michelle said. "Gary was a creature of habit … This was so out of his norm." At about midnight, after taking his family home, Ryan talked to his brother, Jason, who was en route from his Colorado home. "Jason (told) Ryan, 'If anyone can find him it's you,'" Michelle said, adding, "Jason helped give Ryan the strength to find him." Ryan then headed back out to search some more on foot. "He had a blanket, a pillow and some water," Michelle said. "He was not going to rest until he found his dad. He knew in his gut he was on Lake Vera-Purdon Road." Ryan had a sense of where to look along the road, his wife said. He kept stopping and walking the roadside, armed with a flashlight. Just before 1 a.m., Ryan found his dad down a steep embankment, having sustained fatal injuries when his motorcycle ran off the road. Daughters Julie and Kelsey had driven to Nevada City as soon as they heard their Pops was missing, arriving just as Ryan was heading out to search. "An hour later, Ryan returned and said you better come inside," Julie wrote in a tribute to her dad. Ryan gathered everyone and told his mom, "Sorry mom, I found Dad — he didn't make it." At the news, Julie said, she fell to the floor, sobbing uncontrollably. "I'm wracked with sadness," she wrote of the loss of her father, whom she called unselfish, giving, and humble. "He brought joy and love to so many," Julie said. (The Union, July 2, 2018)
